Grave’s Disease
What is graves’ disease ?
Graves’s disease is the most common cause of hyper thyroidism.
This is an autoimmune disorder which causes the thyroid gland to produce excessive thyroid hormone. your immune system generally produces antibodies to fight against bacteria or virus ;in graves’ disease patients immune system mistakenly produces antibodies called thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin’s [TSI] that target his own healthy thyroid cells .
This can occur at any age but this is more common in women over age 20 .
Causes of graves’ disease :
Exactly why the immune system produces these antibodies that is still unknown but both heredity and environmental factors such as stress plays important role to cause this disease.
